The importance of Google Analytics – Why would you fly blind?

We are constantly amazed at the number of clients we see who have reasonably successful dental practices, with decent websites, who pay organisations for SEO and PPC campaigns, but who don’t really have the full picture with what’s going on with their website.

The whole point of SEO  and PPC is to drive targeted visitors to your website. However, driving visitors to a website is only half the battle. Making those visitors perform a specific action is the Holy Grail of the dental marketing process.

So, here’s a few questions to ask:

  • How many people visited your website last month?
  • How does this compare to the previous month and the same month last year?
  • On average, how long did they stay on the site before leaving?
  • What pages of my site did they arrive on?
  • What was the bounce rate? ( I’ll explain later)
  • What was your goal conversion i.e. how many of these visitors contacted you by email, by using the contact form or by phone?
  • How many new patients did you receive from contacting you from the website?
  • If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you are only seeing half the picture.

Every dental website should be set up with Google Analytics .  It’s a free tool that allows you to analyse and interrogate your own website, and it delivers invaluable information about your visitor numbers and behaviour.

If you don’t have Google Analytics set up yet, you’re basically driving a website through the ether, blindfolded, in the middle of the night!
Fix this today. You need to know which pages are working, and which pages aren’t.
You need to know what calls to action work, and which ones don’t.
The amount of information you can get from Analytics is simply staggering. And yet, the majority of clients we see have never heard of Google Analytics.
